Girl has her hair cut, eyebrows shaved in another case of jealousy

VietNamNet Bridge – Police of Ky Anh district of the central province of Ha Tinh are investigating a case in which a 18-year-old girl accused a group of people kidnapping, torturing, cutting her hair and shaving her eyebrows for jealousy.

Le Thi Thu, 19, a resident of Ky Van commune, Ky Anh district, is a trainee at a barber’s shop in Ky Anh town. At about 6pm on April 17, a taxi of Mai Linh parked in front of the shop. A woman in the car phoned Thu to invite her to go out. No doubt, Thu accepted the invitation and left the shop.

Just stepping away from the shop, Thu was pulled into the car by a woman. There were one man and three women in the car.

Seeing abnormal signs, the manager of the barber’s shop phoned Thu’s family to notify them about the case. The family was frightened and searched for her.

It was not until around 7.30pm the same day, the family discovered Thu lying unconscious on the roadside, about 500m from their house. Her face was visible, her hair and eyelashes were cut and shaved.

The family took the girl to the General Hospital of Ky Anh for emergency. Two days after the incident, the girl was still in a state of coma and seizures. Doctors initially diagnosed Thu with brain damage.

On April 21, Ky Anh district police announced to arrest the group of people who kidnapped and tortured Thu. At least five people were arrested for their involvement in the case.

The subjects in custody include: Tang Thi Phuong (born 1994, residing in Ky Tan commune), Truong Thi Quynh (1994, Ky Anh town), Truong Thi Hong Tham (born 1996), Vo Thi Thuy (born 1994, Ky Phong commune) and Tran Van Tuan (born 1994).

The remaining subject – Le Thi Phuong Thao – has fled to Hanoi.

Of the above subjects, three are employees of the Mai Linh Ha Tinh Taxi and a 12th grade of Nguyen Thi Bich Chau High School in Ky Anh Town.

The case was related to jealousy. Phuong was in relationship with a man named Vu. Recently Phuong doubted that Vu and Thu had a loving relationship so she repeatedly sent threatening messages to Thu.

According to Thu’s family, Thu and Vu are cousins. Thu explained it to Phuong but she did not believe. Phuong and her friends many times threatened Thu before kidnapped and tortured her on April 17.

Chut Ethnic People in Rao Tre Hamlet

Chut Ethnic People in Rao Tre Hamlet

It is the only ethnic group in Ha Tinh who live in Rao Tre Hamlet at the foot of Ca Day Mountain in Huong Lien Commune, Huong Khe District. The hamlet consists of 25 households with over 100 people.

According to some documents, the Chut ethnic group was found in 1920 when they lived gregariously in leaf-made tents, camps or caves in Cua Ba, Ban Quat areas lying in between the two provinces of Ha Tinh and Quang Binh. They led a nomadic life in wild forests. In 1966, Ha Tinh Province's border guards discovered them and helped them settle down in Huong Vinh of Huong Khe, then later in Rao Tre Hamlet.

After 40 years of integrating in the community, the Chut people know how to cultivate wet rice, raise poultry and cattle and build their houses. Their children can go to school. However, the province’s leaders should pay more attention to issues to promote the socio-economic and cultural development of Chut ethnic group.

Xuan Thanh Beach, 5km from Hoi Estuary to the south, stretches over 5km with moderate salty seawater and slightly sloping sandy banks.

Chieu Trung Temple worships a famous general, Le Khoi, who deserved well of the country. When he died, his tomb was built by the court in the west of the foot of Long Ngam Mountain. The local people set up the temple to worship him at Cua Sot and held the Chieu Trung Temple Festival on his dead anniversary every year.

Location: Thien Cam Beach is situated in Cam Xuyen District, Ha Tinh Province.

Characteristics: The low mountains in proximity to the sea have created a beautiful landscape.

Thien Cam Beach is situated approximately 20km from Ha Tinh City. Separated from the mountain foot by a sandbank, Yen Lac Pagoda, built during the 13th century, is a relic preserved by the government. A famous set of paintings called "the King of Hell's Ten Palaces" has been kept in the pagoda since the beginning of the 20th century. The French built Thien Cam as a resort, but  nearly all the infrastructures were destroyed during the wars.

Nowadays, Thien Cam Beach has become a tourist site where many come to vacation.

Ha Tinh  Dong Loc Road Junction

Location: Dong Loc Road Junction is situated in Dong Loc Commune, Can Loc District, Ha Tinh Province.

Characteristics: During the war against the United States, Dong Loc Road Junction was a point of the connection between the North and Ho Chi Minh Trail.

The intersection of provincial roads 5 and 15 used to be the main junction of the supply line during the war against the United States. American aircrafts heavily bombarded the area in repeated efforts to destroy the junction. The less than 20km section of road underwent 2,057 air bombardments.

A unit of ten young female volunteers, aged 17 to 20 and led by Vo Thi Tan, was assigned to keep the road open to traffic. Despite repeated heavy bombardments, they stayed at their post, using only shovels and hoes to level bomb craters. They were all tragically killed during an air attack on July 24, 1968.

A monument engraved with the names of the ten heroines was erected on a hill at the Dong Loc Road Junction.

2. The project on steel refining and rolling mill in Vung Ang with the capacity of 2 million tonnes/year. The feasible project was formulated by the Construction Steel Corporation and Sunsteel Group of Taipei came for inquiry there into.

3. The project on car repairing factory in Ky Anh is carried out by H&T Technical and Service Company Ltd, with a total investment capital of 20.5 billion VND.

4. The project on Viet Tiep machine assembling and stone exploiting joint-venture is worth 2 million USD.

5. The investment project on building a general hospital in Ha Tinh Town is implemented by An Hoa Phat Private Enterprise.

6. The project on an eco-tourist resort at the Ngang Pass, covering 100ha, is implemented by Electric Construction and Installation Company III with a total investment capital of 150 billion VND.

7. The project on an eco-tourist resort and convalescence centre in Nuoc Sot Kim Son area is carried out by Ha Noi Industrial and Urban Development and Investment Company. The Company is conducting surveys and carrying out necessary procedures for implementation of the project.

8. The investment project on Gia Lach industrial park’s infrastructure, Nghi Xuan, covering 250 ha, is implemented by Nam Thai Son Company Ltd., It is under the period of surveying, measuring land and carrying out necessary procedures for the first-stage investment of 140 billion VND on an area of 100.5ha.

9. The project on cosmetic and chemical plant in Cam Xuyen of Ly Thanh Sac Trade Share-holding Company has a total investment capital of 55 billion VND.

10. The project on Nam Thang Long gas company of Nam Thang Long Company Ltd., has an investment capital of 10 billion VND.

11. The project on building international university in Hong Linh is implemented by Assumption University, Thailand as investor.

1. Han Hwa Resources Company Ltd., has a total capital of 3.6 million USD, which focuses on reforestation and pulp production.

2. The investment project on producing, trading in and processing synthetic wood, capitalized at 25 billion VND, is implemented by Phi Hung Private Enterprise in Vung Ang industrial zone 1, Ky Anh District, Ha Tinh Province.

3. The project on export forest product processing plant, capitalized at 16.5 billion VND, built in Vung Ang industrial zone 1, Ky Trinh Commune, Ky Anh District, Ha Tinh Province, is implemented by Tan Truong Phat Company Ltd.

4/. The project “24 Hours-Service” of Hanoi Multi-National Share-Holding Company with a total investment capital of 138 billion VND is built in Ky Trinh Commune, Ky Anh District.

5/. The project on brewery factory in Nam Cau Phu, Ha Tinh Town, of Viet Trung Share-Holding Company, has a total investment capital of 20 billion VND.

6/. The project on eco-tourist resort and hotel in Gia Lach, Nghi Xuan, of Hoang Mai Ngoc Share Holding Company, is built on an area of 10 ha with a total investment capital of 72 billion VND.

7/. The project on Nam Sot hydro-electric power plant, Huong Son, is implemented by Huong Son Hydro-electric Power Share-Holding Company (the joint-venture of four companies, including Ha Tinh Trade and Mineral, Hanoi Electricity I, Hanoi Construction and Mechanics, and Hanoi Urban Transport and Infrastructure Construction). The total capital for two stages reaches 850 billion VND, including the pledged capital for the first stage of 442 billion VND.

8/. The project on building hotel in Thien Cam is implemented by Construction Materials and Building Company, under the Ministry of Trade, capitalized at 50 billion VND.

9/. Ho Ho hydro-electric power plant in Huong Trach Commune, Huong Khe District, worth 200 billion VND, is invested by Electricity Company I. It has a capacity of 10MW and a productivity of 50.3 million KWh.

      Located in the middle of northern central Vietnam, Ha Tinh Province has a history of cultural and revolutionary traditions and its land and people have for generations been known as “sacred land and eminent people”.

It seems that Ha Tinh has, in many periods of time, been selected and entrusted with important tasks by history. In return, it is endowed with favourable natural conditions and geographical positions with a mountainous region, a mid-land region and coastal plains. It has 145 kilometres of land bordering Laos, 137km of coastline, convenient waterways and land transport systems with the Cau Treo international border-gate, Xuan Hai Port, Vung Ang-Son Duong deep-water port complex, Highway 1A, Ho Chi Minh Road and the North-South railway.
    
      Ha Tinh is rich in natural resources with iron and ilmenite in coastal areas, tin, gold, manganite and peat in the western districts, the Ke Go Nature Reserve and Vu Quang National Park with unique ecological systems. The Province boasts areas of specialty fruit trees, such as Phuc Trach grapefruit, Thach Ha persimmon, Bu Huong Son orange, Khe May orange and renowned landscapes such as the Hong Mountain, La River, Vu Mon Waterfall, Huong Tich Pagoda-Chan Tien, Tam Soa Wharf-Tung Linh, Tien Stream-Thien Tuong, the ecological health resort of Nuoc Sot Son Kim and beauty spots of Deo Ngang-Hoanh Son Quan and Quynh Vien-Chieu Trung. Ha Tinh is located on the Northern Central of Vietnam, surrounded by Nghe An Province on the north, Quang Binh Province on the south, Laos on the west, and East Sea on the east.

Locating at the east of Truong Son Mountain Range, Ha Tinh's terrain is both narrow and sloping, tilting towards the east. To the west is a high mountain range (with average height of 1,500m), following with a range of hills, small and narrow elongated plain and coastal sandy banks.

Mountainous terrain accounts for 80% of the province's natural area that is sharply differentiated and divided, forming deferent ecological areas. There are 14 rivers such as Ngan Pho, Ngan Sau, Cay. The coastline is 137km in length which is suitable for making salt, rearing shellfish such as shrimps, crabs, oysters, snails...

Ha Tinh belongs to the tropical monsoon area. The annual average temperature is 23.7?C. There are two clear seasons:Raining season lasts from August to November. Annually average rainfall is from 2500mm to 2650mm, account to 54% of whole year.Dry season is from December to July next year. The weather is dry, hot and highly vaporizing West- Southern wind (blowing from Laos).

Tourisms Ha Tinh

The province has many special internal tourism places ecologically, historically, culturally, namely National Park of Vu Quang, Ke Go reservoir, Hong Linh Mountain, interests inhering to poet Nguyen Du, monument of comrade Tran Phu - First General Secretary of Vietnamese Communist Party, Dong Loc Road Junction - a monument sticking with glorious victory of Vietnam against the US. Then, tourists are able to relax in Xuan Thanh, Thien Cam, Thach Hai or Deo Con beaches, or in medical treatment area of Son Kim Hot Spring.

Ha Tinh preserves many temples, pagodas such as Cua Dieu Tower, Huong Tich, Bich Chau, Yen Lac pagodas, Tam Lang, Chieu Trung temples.

Coming there, visitor do not forget make tour to some of handicrafts villages such as Van Cham, Minh Long iron, Duc Lam cooper, Cam Trang pottery, Thai Yen wood, Ha silt, Ho cloth.

Hà Tĩnh is a province on the North Central Coast of Vietnam. Together with neighbouring Nghệ An Province the two provinces are together called "Nghệ Tĩnh", and known for a heavy dialect

Hà Tĩnh Province is located in the northern part of central Vietnam, about 340 km south of Hanoi, facing Nghệ An Province to the north, Quảng Bình Province to the south, Laos to the west, and the Eastern Sea to the east.

Hà Tĩnh is among the poorest provinces of Vietnam with a GDP in 2008 of $420 per person. The poverty can be attributed to the harsh natural conditions with severe coldness in winter and extreme heat in summer, floods and storms every fall and unfavorable soil and natural resources. A badly-operated district and provincial government is also a hurdle to prosperity. Agriculture, forestry and fishery takes up 35.5 percent of total GDP and the province's GDP accounts for 0.7 percent of Vietnam's GDP. Hà Tĩnh takes slow steps in economic reforms though better signs in recent time are incentive. Vung Ang harbour with some plants, factories and thermopower plant is becoming the most economic hub. Vietnam Steel operates an iron mine Thach Khe District. An $8 billion iron and steel plant is being built in Vung An
